Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
